Special Enforcement:  Towing of unregistered vehicles

On September 07, 2004 the City of Kenosha Common Council approved the following ordinance, 7.041.  The ordinance allows for the towing of any vehicle that has not been properly registered for a period of 6 months or longer and is parked on a public street, highway, or public place located within the City of Kenosha .  The ordinance does not require any notification prior to towing of the vehicle.  All cost associated with the towing of the vehicle will be the owners responsibility. 

The ordinance will go into effect on September 17, 2004.  The Kenosha Police Department will start enforcing the ordinance on Monday, September 27, 2004. 

 If you have a vehicle that is not properly registered please remove it from the street, highway or public place. 

   7.041 PARKING REGULATIONS - UNREGISTERED VEHICLES

 A.  No owner or operator of any vehicle which has not been properly registered for a period of six (6) months or longer, shall park or leave standing such vehicle, or suffer, allow or permit such vehicle to be parked or left standing on any public street, highway, public way or public place in the City of Kenosha .

 B.  Any vehicle which has not been properly registered for a period of six (6) months or longer, which is parked or left standing on any public street, highway, public way or public place in the City of Kenosha may be towed and stored by the Police Department, at the cost and expense of the vehicle owner, pursuant to Section 13.12 of the Code of General Ordinances.  Unclaimed towed vehicles may be disposed of by towers through means and procedures authorized by law.
